If you are a Microsoft 365 business or school user and you receive an unexpected message with the subject line “Your single-use code” and body “Hi <name> We received your request for a single-use code to use with your Microsoft account. Your single-use code is: XXXXXXXX”, it likely there is a personal Microsoft account with the same Email address. Yes, it is possible to have a personal and business emailbox with the same address

The “fix” will be to log into the Personal Microsoft account and disable it.

Open a new web browser instance that is not already logged into Microsoft
Go to www.office.com
Enter your email address
Important -> Select “Personal Account” (NOT “Work or school Account” )
Select “Sent a code”
You will get the code in your work email
Enter the code
Delete your personal account or disable it

When using Microsoft Teams, if the microphone picks up your voice when you speak directly into it, but does not when you are speaking in the microphone’s peripheral areas, we have a potential solution.

For issues related to omni-directional mics. Example: mic cuts out when users turn their head away from laptop

  1. Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar
  2. Select Sounds
  3. Select Recording at the top of the window
  4. Click on Microphone Array
  5. Select Properties at the bottom right
  6. Select the Enhancements tab
  7. Check the box for Disable all sound effects

For issues related to overall low mic volume in meetings

  1. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
  2. Press the Windows Key or click in the search bar in the taskbar
  3. Under Audio inputs and outputs, select the microphone, often labeled as Microphone Array
  4. Right-click on the mic and select Update driver
  5. Select Browse my computer for drivers
  6. Type Device Manager and press Enter
  7. Select Next and close Device Manager

Some of our favorite commands to use on the Adtran NetVanta 1238, 1550 etc switches and routers

show mac address-table – shows the MAC address, VLAN ID, and port for each device in the table.

no events – turns off the console logging while you are using command line

show interface <interface name> realtime – show realtime statistics on the port you are troubleshooting

show processes CPU -shows the processes and how much CPU they use. If CPU is maxed out (due to broadcast storm for example), the switch will have slow or intermittent Ping response and you may need to console directly.

A few troubleshooting tips when chrome devices do not print

These settings can be adjusted in the Google Admin Console. Navigate to Devices -> Chrome -> Printers

  • Make sure the IP address of the printer is static and did not change
  • In the Host field, use the printer IP address (instead of the hostname)
  • Change protocol LPD to IPP. We’ve had to do this with Kyocera devices
  • Make sure “Allow for users in this organization” is enabled
